Our May Garden and a Link-Up Party
We have had a busy few weeks in the garden: planting seeds and starts that will provide food over the coming months, replacing several perennial plants that didn't make it over the winter, and of course, the never-ending battle with the grass (we removed all of our grass in favor of flowers and food producers, but that grass, it is determined). We still have a lot to do, like finishing pulling out the grass and mulching to keep it at bay, at least for a while, but I am pretty happy with where we are at. This time of year is so lovely- flowers in bloom, bees busy working, and the anticipation for the harvest to come.
This year we have planted: snow peas, 5 varieties of tomatoes, 3 kinds of peppers, cilantro, parsley, dill, basil, beets, radishes, greens, arugula, green onions, potatoes, strawberries, delicata squash, acorn squash, zuchinni, cucumbers, corn, beans, and the grapes, raspberries, blackberries and italian herbs that are perennial.
Here are a few pictures of our garden in May:
What is planted in YOUR May garden? I would love to hear about it and if you have posted or want to post about your May garden, please join in and link up below!
Oh it all looks so lovely. Our garden is just coming alive. Medicinal and culinary herb garden went in this weekend as well as some seedlings that had been started in the cold frame. Kale, swiss chard, beet and snow peas were sown and weeds were pulled from other beds. So great to be in the garden. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteBeautiful! I linked my beginning of May post but since then we've been fighting our first battle of the season....deer! I guess we've had a few lucky years of no deer so it was time. :(
ReplyDeleteWe had huge problems with deer when I lived in Montana. We could only garden in an area that had a 12-foot high wire fence around it. They would eat everything else...
DeleteI hope the deer decide to go somewhere else!
Your garden is beautiful! Unfortunately my garden isn't getting the attention it needs these days being 3 weeks post c-section (and recovering from an infection to my incision) I just can't do it! On the bright side, I do have a beautiful baby boy that is growing and looking more gorgeous every day!
ReplyDeleteA new baby is MUCH more fun than a garden!!
DeleteOh your garden is so pretty! SOOOOOOO pretty.
ReplyDeletelove love love love love.
Thanks!
Deletelooks great!
ReplyDeletei'm sad to not be gardening this year but this means i can go 2x as big next year, right?
Thanks and YES!
DeleteWow, your garden is so much more advanced than ours. What altitude are you at? we are at 1035m and apart from a few potaotes and some herbs nothing is yet up. I have planted a few things inside in jiffy planters but hesitate to put them outside as it's still so wet and cold. Would love to link up but I only have two big mud rectangles to show. Will you be doing a link up for June?
ReplyDeleteWe have a deer problem here too.
Thanks! We are at sea level. It is cool and rainy here but we had a couple of hot sunny weeks in early May.
DeleteSorry to hear your deer problem and YES! I will do a link-up in June as well... probably a better time for most folks. ;)
